About Wendy Donawa
A coast-dweller, I have always lived near the sea, always on an island. I grew up on Vancouver Island, then spent three decades of my adult life in Barbados. There I raised my family, studied at the University of the West Indies, and found vocation as a college instructor and museum curator. Now retired from an academic life, I’ve returned to Victoria, where my heart and mind attend to poetry. The salty air off the Salish Sea and the easterly trade winds of the Caribbean make equal claim on my spirit. I respectfully acknowledge that my home, in sight of the Sooke Hills and the Salish Sea, is on the traditional unceded territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Peoples. |
